# Add or remove students in your class (teachers)

If your district lets teachers add students, add a student who already has an Ori account by their email address. If your district lets teachers manage rosters, you can remove a student from your class. Their account stays; they're only taken out of the class.

**For:** teachers · **Available when:** your district lets teachers manage their class rosters · **Not available when:** your class syncs from Clever or ClassLink

### Before you start

- If your district lets you manage classes, create the class first, then add your students.
- If the student already appears in your class, they don't need an invitation. They sign in at [app.orilearning.com/student](https://app.orilearning.com/student) and open their assigned lessons.

### Add a student who already has an Ori account

1. Pick the class in the class dropdown at the top.
2. Open 'Students'.
3. Click 'Add' ('Add New Student' if the class has no students yet).
4. In 'Add a New Student', type the student's email address.
5. When you see 'Existing student found and will be added to your class.', click 'Add'.

You'll see 'Student added successfully', and the student appears under 'Students'.

### Invite a student who doesn't have an account yet

If your district lets teachers create student accounts, enter a new student's email and Ori emails them an invitation. They're added to your class once they accept it. ### If you see a message when you add a student

- **Email address unavailable, please contact your account administrator for support.** with 'Invite' greyed out: see [Why can't I add students or change my class?](https://support.orilearning.com/knowledge/why-cant-i-change-my-class?hsLang=en)
- **Email domain is not allowed by your organization.** means the student's email domain isn't on your district's accepted list. Ask your district admin to add the domain.
- **Email is invalid** usually means a typo or a space at the end of the address, often from copying it out of a spreadsheet. Remove the space or fix the typo.

### If the student has no email address

You can't add a student who has no email address yourself. Ask your school or district admin to create their account and add them to your class, or [send us a request](https://support.orilearning.com/open-a-support-ticket?hsLang=en). ### Remove a student from your class

1. Open 'Students' and select the student.
2. Open the '...' menu.
3. Click 'Remove from Class'.
4. Click 'Remove'.

You'll see 'Student removed successfully'.

### Move a student to another class

There's no 'move' button. To move a student, remove them from one class and add them to the other. If the other class belongs to another teacher, that teacher does the adding. A student without an email address has to be moved by your school or district admin.
