# End, reopen or reset a session

'Abort' cancels a session: it deletes the session's answers and removes it from students' Home. 'Complete...' ends a session and keeps the answers.

### What the session menu offers

Each session card has a '...' menu. While a session is in progress it offers 'Open', 'Edit...', 'Complete...' and 'Abort'. A completed session offers only 'Open'. An aborted session offers 'Open' and 'Delete'.

Students can stop partway through. Their submitted answers are saved, and when they open the lesson again they return to the page they left.

### Complete a session

1. Open 'Sessions'.
2. Click '...' on the session's card, then 'Complete...'. Or go to the last page of the session.
3. Untick any students who didn't finish.
4. Click 'Complete Session' (or 'Complete Session for Selected').

When you complete a 'Live Participation' or 'Front of Class' session, students you untick either lose their answers (the default) or, if you choose 'Allow unchecked students to complete the assignment at their own pace.', get to finish the lesson on their own. ### Remove a session you created by mistake or no longer need

1. Open 'Sessions'.
2. Click '...' on the session's card, then 'Abort', then 'Yes'.
3. Click '...' again, then 'Delete', then 'Yes'.

Deleting is permanent. 'Delete' is offered only on an aborted session. You'll see 'Session deleted successfully'.

#### If Ori won't let you abort

If Ori says **Cannot abort session since some students already completed it**, complete the session instead: click '...' \> 'Complete...', untick students who didn't finish, and click 'Complete Session for Selected and Discard unchecked students' progress'.

### Reopen a session or give the lesson again

A completed session can't be reopened or edited, and an aborted session can't be restored. To give students the lesson again, create a new session.

### If it's a course assignment

A course assignment can't be aborted. The closest equivalent is 'Reset All Progress' on the student's course.

### If there's a session you can't remove

If there's a session you can't remove, [send us a request](https://support.orilearning.com/open-a-support-ticket?hsLang=en) with the course, the lesson and the students affected. That includes a survey session a student has already opened, and old sessions another teacher left open.
