# Create, rename or leave a class (teachers)

If your district lets teachers manage classes, you can create your own classes from the class dropdown.

### Before you start

If 'Manage classes...' isn't in your class dropdown, your district hasn't turned on class management for teachers. Your school or district admin can create the class for you. ### Create a class

1. Open the class dropdown at the top and click 'Manage classes...'.
2. Click '+ Add'.
3. In 'Add Class', choose the 'Site' (your school) and type the 'Class Name' (up to 64 characters).
4. Click 'Create'.

### Rename a class

Rename one of your classes from 'Manage classes...' in the class dropdown.

1. Open the class dropdown and click 'Manage classes...'.
2. Click the pencil icon next to the class.
3. In 'Rename Class', type the new 'Name'.
4. Click 'Okay'.

### Leave a class

To leave a class, use the trash icon in 'Manage classes...'. This takes you off the class but doesn't delete it; the class and its students stay, and you lose access to it. You can't leave the class you're currently viewing, so switch to another class first.

1. Switch to a different class in the class dropdown.
2. Open the class dropdown and click 'Manage classes...'.
3. Click the trash icon next to the class you want to leave.
4. Read the confirmation ('The class itself will not be deleted, but you will no longer have access to it.') and click 'Remove'.

### If your class syncs from Clever or ClassLink

You can't rename or leave a class that syncs from Clever or ClassLink.

### Delete a class or add a co-teacher

Teachers can't delete a class. Only your school or district admin can.

Only your school or district admin can add a second teacher or a substitute to a class. Teachers can't add each other. Your admin's steps for both are in [Managing classes](https://support.orilearning.com/knowledge/managing-classes?hsLang=en).
