# Reset a student's course progress

Start a student's course over. This deletes all their work in the course, so download their 'Report' first if you want a record.

**For:** teachers

### What a reset does

'Reset All Progress' permanently deletes everything the student did in that course. The course stays on their list and starts again from the beginning.

### Reset the course

1. Click 'Students' at the top, then click the student.
2. Optional: click the course, then 'Report', to download their progress first.
3. Under 'Assigned Courses', open the course's '...' menu.
4. Click 'Reset All Progress'.
5. Read the warning, 'The student will have to start the course from the beginning. Are you sure?', and click 'Reset'.

A reset can't be undone. You'll see 'Progress reset successfully', the course shows 'Not Started', and the student starts again from the first item, usually the pre-assessment.

### If you don't see 'Reset All Progress'

The course's '...' menu has 'View Progress', 'Reset All Progress' and 'Edit Assignment...'. If your district lets teachers allocate licenses and the student's license has expired or hasn't started, the menu shows 'Allocate License...' in place of 'Reset All Progress'. Allocate a license first, then reset.

### Stop a student working through a course on their own

1. Click 'Students' at the top, then click the student.
2. Under 'Assigned Courses', click '...' on the course, then 'Edit Assignment...'.
3. Click 'Remove Assignment'.
4. In the 'Remove Assignment' dialog, which says "The student will no longer be able to independently progress in the course. Are you sure?", click 'Yes'.

You'll see 'Assignment removed successfully'.

'Remove Assignment' doesn't remove the course. The course stays on the student's list and in 'Progress', and the lesson they're on stays open. It stops the next lessons appearing. To delete the student's work in the course, use 'Reset All Progress' instead.

### If you want to pause a course

You don't need to pause a course. It stays assigned, and when the student opens it again they pick up on the page where they left off.
