The student doesn't need an email address, and the new password works straight away. **For:** school (site) admins and district admins ### Set a new password 1. In the [admin portal](https://app.orilearning.com/admin), open the student's account. [Edit a teacher's or student's account](https://support.orilearning.com/knowledge/edit-a-users-account?hsLang=en) shows how to find it. 2. Click 'Set Student Password'. 3. Type the new password in 'New password' and again in 'Confirm password'. 4. Click 'Set Password'. 'Password changed successfully' confirms it. A password needs 8 to 20 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number or special character. If you see **Please choose a password that follows the guidelines** or **Passwords do not match**, the password doesn't meet the rules or the two boxes don't match. 'Set Password' stays greyed out until both are fixed. Give a new password to the student in person. Don't send it by email or chat, and don't use the same password for several students. ### Nobody can look up a password A student's record in the admin portal has 'Reset Password' and 'Set Student Password'. Neither one shows the student's current password. Nobody can look up a password: not a teacher, not an admin and not Ori. Passwords aren't shown anywhere in Ori. If a password is lost, a new one is set. ### If the student has an email address In the admin portal you can send any teacher or student a password reset email from their record. If 'Reset Password' is greyed out, the account has no email address: add one first, or, for a student, use 'Set Student Password'. If the student's account has an email address, the student can reset it with 'Forgot password?' on the 'Student Portal' sign-in page. If it doesn't, their school or district admin can set a new one in the admin portal. The Ori team is happy to help with this too.
