# A student can't see or open an assigned lesson

When a student can't see a lesson you assigned, check: the session isn't 'Front of Class'; the student is in the session; the lesson is included in their course assignment; and they're starting from their Home.

### Make sure the session isn't 'Front of Class'

Students can't open a 'Front of Class' session on their own devices. It isn't on their Home, and its code or link shows **The session you are trying to access cannot be found.** If students need to work on their devices, assign the lesson as 'Live Participation' or 'Student Paced'.

A 'Front of Class' session that's still open doesn't stop students opening their other lessons.

### Make sure the student is in the session

If a student types a code that doesn't exist, they see **Session not found**. If they open a session and see **The session you are trying to access cannot be found.**, the session is 'Front of Class', has been aborted, or doesn't include them (they aren't ticked in the session or aren't in the class). Check the code, then check the student is in the session.

If a session card shows 0 people, nobody was invited. Use 'Edit...' to add students.

A student you add to your class isn't automatically added to sessions you've already created, even ones assigned to the entire class. Edit the session to add them, or create a new assignment. ### Make sure the lesson is in their course assignment

In a whole-course assignment, students work through the lessons in order, starting with any pre-course survey or pre-assessment. When they finish one, 'Continue Learning:' moves to the next.

A checkpoint pauses a student after that lesson until their teacher approves it. The student sees **You've reached a course checkpoint. Once your teacher approves, you will be able to move on to the next lesson.** Nothing new shows on their 'Home' until the teacher approves.

If a course shows twice for a student, they probably have a course assignment and a separate single-lesson session for the same content. Abort the single-lesson session, then delete it.

### If the lesson shows 'Pending'

**This session is pending**, a greyed lesson marked 'Pending', and the checkpoint message aren't license problems. They mean the student has a survey to finish first or is waiting for your approval. ### If their Home says 'No assignments found'

If a student's 'Home' says **No assignments found**, nothing is assigned to them yet, or they don't have a license. The 'Courses' page says **No courses assigned yet** until a whole course is assigned.

A student needs two things before they can open work: they have to be in the class, and they have to hold a license for that curriculum. A class doesn't come with content. ### If the session has ended

If a student opens a session and sees **The session you are trying to access cannot be found.**, the session may have been aborted. An aborted session has ended; create a new session for the student.

- the lesson or course name, and whether you assigned it 'Front of Class', 'Live Participation' or 'Student Paced'
