[Rostering](https://support.orilearning.com/knowledge/school-district-admins?hsLang=en#rostering) # Create or update many accounts with a roster spreadsheet To create, update or remove many teachers or students, download the school's spreadsheet, edit it and upload it again. Create the classes before you upload people. **For:** school (site) admins and district admins · **Not available when:** your district syncs rosters from Clever or ClassLink and doesn't allow manual changes ### Before you start - Set up in this order: sites, then classes, then teacher and student accounts. Create classes before you download a roster spreadsheet, so they appear in its class lists. - To add classes in bulk, see [Create many classes at once](https://support.orilearning.com/knowledge/create-many-classes?hsLang=en). ### Add or update many teachers 1. In the admin portal, open 'Sites' and click the school. 2. Click 'Sync Teachers'. 3. In Step 1, click 'Download' to get the spreadsheet of the school's current teachers. 4. Add, edit or delete rows. Choose each teacher's classes in 'Class 1' to 'Class 3'. 5. Save the spreadsheet. 6. In Step 3, click 'Upload' and choose the file. 7. Check the review list, then click 'Sync'. 8. When you see 'Sync completed successfully.', click 'Close'. If Excel opens the spreadsheet read-only, click 'Enable Editing' in Excel's yellow bar. A large file shows 'Syncing, please wait...' with a percentage while it runs. ### Add or update many students 1. In the admin portal, open 'Sites' and click the school. 2. Click 'Sync Students'. 3. In Step 1, click 'Download' to get the spreadsheet. 4. Add, edit or delete rows. 5. Save the spreadsheet. 6. In Step 3, click 'Upload' and choose the file. 7. Fix any cells Ori flags, then click 'Sync'. 8. When you see 'Sync completed successfully.', click 'Close'. The student spreadsheet has columns for 'First Name', 'Last Name', 'Username', 'Email (Optional)', 'Grade', 'Password (Optional)', 'Difficulty Level (Optional)', three class columns and three license columns. If a student will sign in with Google, put their email in both 'Email' and 'Username'. If a student will sign in with a username and password, fill in 'Username' and 'Password', then give them app.orilearning.com/student and their sign-in details. ### What changes when you sync A username and an email address are separate and can be different. The spreadsheet matches people by 'Username', so you can't change a username this way. If you edit a username, Ori treats the row as a new person and removes the old account from the school. You can update names, email addresses and classes. If you delete someone's row and sync, they're removed from that school and its classes. If they don't belong to any other school, their account is also deactivated. Leave rows in place for anyone who should stay. ### If the review shows errors Point at a flagged cell to see what's wrong, fix the spreadsheet and upload it again. 'Sync' only appears once there are no errors. If a class in the spreadsheet doesn't exist yet, you'll see **Class does not exist**. ### Still need help?
