School (site) admins and district admins: what each can do
A district admin can manage every school (site) in the district. A school admin can manage only their own school or schools.
For: school (site) admins and district admins
An admin is a teacher account with admin rights
Everyone in Ori has a teacher or a student account. An admin is a teacher account with admin rights added. Taking admin rights away leaves the teacher account as it was.
When you create an account, 'User Type' has two choices, 'Teacher' and 'Student'. Admin rights are added to a teacher's account; they aren't a separate account type. To add or take away admin rights, see Give or remove admin rights.
What a district admin can do
As a district admin you can see and manage every school in your district: accounts, classes, admins, what teachers can manage, and licenses. The dashboard and reports can show all schools or one.
Only a district admin can delete a user account or a school. Nobody can delete their own account.
What a school (site) admin can do
As a site admin you manage one school: its users, classes, admins, licenses, roster spreadsheets and teacher settings. You can deactivate accounts but not delete them, and you can't move people between schools; a district admin does those.
As a site admin you can open your own site and use its 'Administrators', 'Users', 'Classes', 'Reports' and 'Allocate Licenses'. You can't delete a site or switch it off; that's for your district admin.
School admins don't have the 'Licenses' page or the 'Licensing' report. You can still allocate licenses with 'Allocate Licenses' on your school.
If you need something only a district admin can do, ask your district admin. Don't know who your district admin is? We'll tell you their name.
