Managing sites
A site is a school inside your district. Every class belongs to one site, and a teacher or student can belong to more than one site. Each site has its own settings for what teachers there can manage.
For: district admins
Create a site
Only a district admin can create a site. If you're a site admin, ask your district admin.
- In the admin portal, open 'Sites'.
- Click '+ New' ('Create Site' if you have no sites yet).
- In 'Create New Site', enter the 'Name'.
- Leave 'Active' on and tick the 'Teacher Rostering Permissions' teachers at this site should have.
- Click 'Create'.
You'll see 'Site created successfully'. Repeat for each school in your district.
What each of the 'Teacher Rostering Permissions' lets teachers do is in Choose what teachers can manage. Once the site exists, add its classes: see Managing classes, or Create many classes at once.
Rename a site
To rename a site, open it, change 'Name' and click 'Save'.
Put someone in more than one site, or move them to another site
You put a teacher or student in a second school, or move them to another school in your district, on 'Assigned Sites' in their account. The steps are in Edit a teacher's or student's account.
Who can move someone to another class, school or district is in Move a teacher or student to another district.
Site admins
To make a teacher a site admin, see Give or remove admin rights. For everything each kind of admin can do, see School (site) admins and district admins: what each can do.
Delete a site
Deleting a site permanently deletes the site and all of its classes, and it can't be undone. The teachers and students at that site keep their accounts; they're left without a site until you assign them to one on 'Assigned Sites'.
- Open 'Sites' and click the site.
- Click 'Delete'.
- In 'Delete Site', click 'Delete' to confirm.
The 'Delete Site' message reads: Site '[site name]' will be permanently deleted, including all its classes. This action cannot be undone. Are you sure? After you confirm, you'll see 'Site deleted successfully'.
If your district uses Clever or ClassLink
If your district syncs rosters from Clever or ClassLink and doesn't allow manual changes, your sites come from the sync: you won't see '+ New', 'Delete', 'Sync Students', 'Sync Teachers' or 'Upload Classes' on sites, and a synced site can't be edited in Ori.
